Housing & Daily Life
What is the living arrangement?
Residents live in shared rooms within a single-family home. Shared living encourages connection, accountability, and mutual support.
What is the cost of living at Animas Recovery House?
The monthly program fee is $1,200 for a shared room. Fees include housing, utilities, and program oversight.
Is there a curfew?
Yes. A 9:00 PM curfew is in place for the first 60 days. Adjustments may be considered based on stability, employment, and program engagement.
Are personal vehicles allowed?
Personal vehicles may be permitted on a situational basis, depending on recovery stability, legal status, insurance, and house capacity.
Recovery Expectations
Are residents required to be sober? Residents agree to community standards that support a safe, recovery-oriented living environment. Continued residence is contingent upon maintaining those standards.
Is drug or alcohol testing required? Yes. Residents agree to submit to random drug and alcohol screening as part of maintaining a safe and accountable household.
What happens if someone relapses? Decisions around continued residence are made on a safety- and community-based basis, with the well-being of all residents in mind.
Services & Support
What services are provided on-site? Animas Recovery House does not provide on-site clinical services. Instead, we partner with local providers to support residents’ needs, including therapy, outpatient treatment, employment, education, and recovery supports.
Do residents have access to fitness or recreation? Residents have access to a membership at the Durango Recreation Center, including gym and pool facilities, and live close to extensive biking, hiking, and outdoor recreation opportunities.

We are located near the heart of Durango, just five minutes from downtown, with access to public transportation, community resources, and outdoor spaces.
